Three suspected members of a notorious armed robbery gang, who operate by wearing fake military uniform to rob victims, were killed during a shoot-out with the police in Agege area of Lagos.
The suspected leader of the gang, Joseph Jack, alongside the other four members of his gang, had been on the wanted list of the police for alleged involvement in various crimes committed within and outside the city.
Luck ran out on them as they engaged the police in a shoot-out after robbing people of their valuables along Agege motor road .
The police’s encounter with the gang followed a distress call received by the Lagos Police Central Command that the gang was operating along Agege motor road.
The state Commissioner of Police immediately swung into action by drafting policemen from SARS to the scene.
On sighting the police, the robbers opened fire, the police responded and overwhelmed the robbers, leading to the death of three of them including the leader of the gang while two members of the gang escaped with injuries.
Two locally made cut-to-size rifles and 20 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the bodies’ of the gangs after the shoot-out.
