Lagos police command vows to put an end to growing cult related crimes

The Lagos State commissioner of police (CP) Mr. Fatai Owoseni has said that the command would no longer tolerate cult activities and other sundry crimes in the state.

He revealed this after the state Security Council meeting presided over by Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode

The CP who expressed dismay about cult gangs’ related killings, kidnapping and robberies before he took over urged criminals to relocate from the state immediately or be crushed by officers of the command.

He said the Lagos police command will henceforth take some preemptive, proactive policing, intelligence led investigations; intelligence led policing measures to defeat the criminals.

He also said the issue of pipeline vandalisation, land grabbers that have turned Lagos to a war zone and the effects of the traffic gridlock in the state were looked into.

“It is time to allow the law to take its course by prosecuting offenders and of course, in the meeting it was resolved that we should now look at how we can respond pragmatically to issues of crime and its effect on security” he said.

The CP said for criminals who do not want to desist from crime they should know that the police are going to enforce the law and it would take its course. He stated further that His Excellency Governor Ambode has assured of his political goodwill, that there would not be interference.

The CP said they would partner with the community, adding that the Lagos police command want to take input from the non state actors; the members of the community and different groups.
