Exclusive: Polling Units in Mende, Maryland Not Using Card Readers for Accreditation

Inside Mainland can authoritatively report that Polling Units in Mende, Maryland in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos have elected not to deploy the card readers for accreditation of voters in the Area.

Investigation by our reporters shows that INEC officials were present at only three Polling Units – PU 037, Araromi Community Center and PU040 at Atiba Osborne and another at Okugade Okuneye Streets. There are about 10 polling units in Mende.

It was learnt that Voters and INEC officials in these units have agreed not to use the card readers as directed by the INEC . Mr. Whyte, a resident who was accredited through this process told Inside Mainland that the voters agreed to use this means. “We agreed among ourselves to use only the register to make it faster”, he told this newspaper in confidence.

Inside Newspaper contacted INEC on 0700 2255 4632 to report the issue and was assured that the “appropriate units would be contacted immediately.
