Shock as woman cuts friend’s tongue in Ogudu

A 29 year old resident of Alhaji Abass Street,Ogudu, Lagos Mainland, identified simply as Biodun has been arrested for allegedly for cutting out the tongue of one 23 year old victim, Babangida Sulyman.

Punch reported that Biodun and Sulyman stayed in the compound owned by Sulyman’s mom.

Sulyman and Biodun were said to have been best of friends before now. They were reportedly very close and Sulyman mostly run errands for her. But recently, the two had a disagreement which led to Sulyman’s mom asking him to stay clear from Biodun, Punch reports.

Mrs Hassanat Ali, Sulyman’s mom told Punch that ’Biodun approached Sulyman for reconciliation two weeks ago and pleaded with him to resume his role as her errand boy, which he refused.”

Mrs Ali narrated that around 8pm on Tuesday when they met at the shop of a woman in the area, Biodun rebuked Sulyman, which prompted the shop owner to ask him what went wrong.

Punch reported that Sulyman declined to speak with the woman in Biodun’s presence and promised to discuss the issue with her (the woman) the next day.

Residents of the area were however left in awe when Biodun allegedly sneaked in, squeezed Sulyman’s neck and forced him to open his mouth. She subsequently yanked out part of his tongue. It was gathered that the incident happened after the victim had gone to the toilet around 11.30pm to urinate.

Narrating the incident, Mrs Ali said “people rushed into our building and started beating her. I cautioned them and she was handed over to the police. Three different hospitals rejected Babangida before he was eventually admitted to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja,” OMrs Ali said.

Punch reported that the suspect was later arrested after she was almost lynched by angry residents.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the assault, adding that the suspect had been charged to court on Friday.

It was learnt that Biodun was remanded in custody while the case was adjourned till October 18, 2017.
