Are you ready for ‘The Prophecy’? Felabration 2017 begins today & InsideMainland has exclusive access

Ikeja will be agog tonight as the 2017 edition of one of the keenly anticipated music festivals of the year, Felabration takes center stage tonight.

The annual event is a week-long tribute to celebrate the late Afrobeat king, great Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and usually holds in the week of the birthday of the late singer.

Tagged as ‘The Prophecy’, this year’s event marks the 20th year anniversary of Fela’s passing and handlers of the event have put together a list of activities to delight attendees of the glamorous event.

Felabration will comprise of secondary school debate between private and public schools (where the winner goes home with a drum set as opposed to a computer which has been the take-home prize in recent years), a symposium by Prof Patrick Lumumba, a dancing competition and street carnival.

Other activities lined up also include dress like Fela street festival, Afrobeat dance competition, international art competition, a documentary on Felabration since its inception, tourist package covering Fela’s live spaces, fundraising exercise, alongside the seven-day musical fiesta.

In addition, InsideMainland has been granted exclusive access to cover the event. The team will be reporting live activities during the concert with keen attention on the thrills and frills.
