Following the torrential rainfall across Lagos earlier today, Friday, August 25, 2017, parts of the state witnessed heavy flooding to the downpour.
Presently, the popular Ketu bus stop on Ikorodu road is flooded with waste evident on the road.
Also, some parts of Oworonshoki is submerged in water with residents unable to move around freely while some others are stranded in the area.
According to a resident, the flooding in Oworonshoki was caused by the dredging activities of the Lagos State Government in the area.
“We have written letters to the government since June 2017 to look into the dredging work here but nothing was done. Rather, the government intensified efforts which led to the current flooding of homes in the area,” the source said.
The resident added that”houses that are not even close to the lagoon are now flooded and this has become a major concern because the government is not ready to listen to us.”
