Three Policemen attached to Isheri Oshun Division of the Lagos State Police Command are currently facing an Orderly Room Trial at Area ‘M’ Idimu following the escape of two robbery suspects from the cell. According to report, the suspects, who were nabbed by residents of the area for stealing, were handed over to the Police for prosecution.
However, it was gathered that the following day, the roof of the cell was discovered to have been broken through, from where the suspects escaped, the policemen on duty that night were immediately arrested and kept in custody for questioning.
The DPO, Camelius Emodi, a Superintendent of Police, immediately declared a manhunt for the detainees who have since been re-arrested.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said: “There was no case of armed robbery in Isheri Oshun. But a case of stealing was reported and the case has now been charged to court.
“The policemen involved in the incident have all been defaulted and they will be disciplined departmentally.”
