Months after the completion of works on the Abule Egba and Ojodu – Berger bridges in Lagos, the state government has commenced preliminary works on site of the Agege – Pen Cinema Flyover Bridge.
Engineers were sighted on the construction site conducting soil test, space setting drilling bore holes and also completing the space setting for the project yesterday, Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
While announcing the project, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said the construction of the flyover bridge will decongest traffic in Agege and other connecting areas.
In addition, Ambode disclosed that the affected roundabouts by the project will be replaced with traffic lights, expansion of roads and provision of dedicated turning lanes as well as additional lay-bys in the axis.
The proposed 700meters fly-over will be constructed from Oba Ogunji via Ijaiye Road into Agunbiade and is expected to be completed between 18 to 24 months.
Also, the project according to the government will feature an expansion to Oba Ogunji Road with further barriers. The project will also accommodate walkways for easy access by pedestrians.
