In the aftermath of the viral message on various social media platforms about the purported upward review of fees being paid by the students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the management of the institution has distanced itself from the rumors.
In a statement released today, July 11, 2017, by the Deputy Registrar of UNILAG, Toyin Adebule the school management disclosed that the school’s tuition is free but students are expected to pay obligatory fees.
“Contrary to the news making the rounds on print, electronic and social media that the University of Lagos has increased its tuition, the university wishes to inform its students, their parents/guardians and the general public that the statement is not true and it is a complete distortion of facts,” part of the statement read.
Adebule however concluded that “we want to emphasize here that tuition is free in the University of Lagos. Fresh and returning students are only charged obligatory fees depending on their status.”
