It was amidst pomp and fanfare that the Community Day event was celebrated across 20 venues in Lagos today, Saturday, May 13, 2017. The event was part of the activities to mark the Golden Jubilee anniversary of Lagos State.
The Community Day event witnessed the display of cultural heritage and tradition of the various communities and groups in Lagos across the 20 venues in the State.
During the event, attendees enjoyed performances from musical bands as well as a parade by various ethnic groups, government officials, dignitaries and other stakeholders present.
At the Somolu leg of the event which held at the premises of Angus Memorial School, residents witnessed performances from the local egun gun group. The procession was met with loud cheers and massive applause from guests present.
Also at Ikeja, residents witnessed a colourful display of the heritage of the Ikeja division by the locals in the area. In addition, they were treated to good music from the catalogues of the disc jockey who ensured guests present had a time to remember.
Similarly at the Teslim Balogun Stadium edition of the event, guests were treated to lots of fun moments to last for a long time. Traditional groups as well as other dance groups took turns to thrill guests to a moment of fun and lots of laughter.
