World Press Freedom Day: LASU Defeats UNILAG, YABATECH to clinch Int’l Debate Trophy

Students of Lagos State University (LASU) emerged the Best State University in Nigeria following their win at the World Press Freedom Day Debate organised by the United States of America Consul in Nigeria.

The LASU Students, who are from the School of Communication defeated their counterparts from University of Lagos, Yaba College of Technology and Nigerian Institute of Journalism to win the top prize.

The school was represented by Adebisi Titilayo and Iwuchukwu Cynthia who are currently in 300 and 200 levels respectively.

The competition had paired LASU and NIJ students in the first round while UNILAG were paired with their neighbours, YABATECH.

The results from the first round saw the Ojo LG based institution facing the Akoka giants in the final round.

In the final round, the lads from LASU staged a world class oratorical debate with a mesmerizing performance which eventually saw them crowned champions.
