Isheri Kidnap update: Abducted resident returns home six days after

Six days after the Secretary of Isheri North Estate, GRA, Lagos State, Mr. Dayo Adekoya, was kidnapped, he has regained his freedom Punch Newspaper reports.

It was learnt that Adekoya who was whisked away last Wednesday by gunmen, who stormed the estate around 10pm was released to his family by his abductors yesterday, Monday, February 13, 2017.

Punch reports that an undisclosed amount of money was paid as ransom to the kidnappers before Adekoya regained his freedom. This was however debunked by the Lagos State Police Command who denied knowledge of the payment.

In the wake of the kidnap incident which also led to the demise of three security guards, panic stricken residents had fled their homes to hotels and relatives’ houses.

Furthermore, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the release of Mr. Adekoya, adding that operatives were on the trail of the suspects.

You would recall that Mr. Dayo Adekoya was kidnapped eight days after Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode signed the Prohibition of the Act of Kidnapping Bill passed by the Lagos Assembly into law.
