At last! Relief for Ikorodu residents as dilapidated Ikorodu – Sagamu road will be fixed this year

If recent indications are anything to go by, Ikorodu residents now have a reason to heave a sigh of relief as the dilapidated Ikorodu – Shagamu road now has the attention of the government.

InsideMainland can reliably report that the road will be fixed this year. This is because the cost of rehabilitating the road has been captured in the Federal Government’s budget for the 2017 Appropriation Year.

The decrepit road has been in a very bad state for a very long period of time as motorists, pedestrians, bikers, motorcyclists face difficulty accessing the road.

During and after the raining season, the road becomes a source of worry for residents owing to the struggle to use the crumbling road.

This led to a massive outcry on the part of residents who not only wrote several letters but also staged different protests to call on the government to ensure the road is put back in shape.

Finally, the residents now have a reason to smile as the relentless Minister, Babatunde Raji Fashola and the lawmaker representing Ikorodu in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson have acted on the collective outcries of Ikorodu residents to ensure the road is fixed.

While sharing the good news of the rehabilitation of the road, Hon. Babajimi Benson said “following the collective outcry of the people of Ikorodu Division which culminated in several letters and motions with respect to the deplorable condition of the Ikorodu-Sagamu road, I am happy to inform that rehabilitation works for the said road has been included in the 2017 budget by the Federal Government.”

Hon. Babajimi Benson in his usual style has also gone public to share the tracking code of the project as “FMOWP00567255”. This will enable concerned residents monitor the progress of the project from its commencement date till completion.

The lawmaker however urged residents to remain calm as he promised to provide regular updates on the project.
