Weeks after Nigerian Professional League side, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos, MFM FC, were banned by the League Management Company, LMC, for fans trouble and attack on football referees, it appears the act is repeating itself again.
In the early hours of today, the rescheduled Match Day 33 encounter between MFM FC and Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia kicked off at Agege Township Stadium, Lagos. While the tie involving the two teams in relegation battle was still scoreless at half time, the fans of the home side, MFM FC, were pictured harassing match officials at the stadium. However, the officials of MFM FC claimed that those involved in the attack are not the real fans of the team but tagged them as ‘coupon fans’.
You will recall that MFM FC were banned to play three home matches behind closed doors following fans attack on referees during the league encounter between the team and Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
